I’m hoping to rescue a 2 yr old Bernese. I have now 2 little chachwowas that I rescued. One is special needs & the other is well very playful & goofy. I got him to help me when I was going through torture chemo treatments. He certainly distracted me from my pain & dispare. I’m hoping the Bernese will be a great addition even in her size. I would like to take her to the nursing home where my mom is after proper training & love..if you have any suggestions for me I would appreciate your response. Thank you for your expertise on these beautiful fur babies..

The commonest problem with Bernese is Cancer you dont mention the SH pre test a blood test for the sire and dam this is hoped over time to reduce the incidence of Histio Sarcoma the biggest killer of Bernese. Also hip and elbow problems are not all down to genetics it’s environmental as well. Important not too over exercise until growth plates have close At between 18 months and 2 years

I have a 3 year old Berner named blaze.not only is he beautiful but he is every thing described above. I don’t think I would own another breed but berners.

In reply to Bjorn Olaussen. We've mostly raised Goldens and Labs for the service dog school but we've also raised many mixed breeds as fosters. I'd love to get a Berner. If you get one come back to this post and tell us how it goes.
