Hi Deborah,

If you’re looking for a service dog you might try contacting an organization like Canine Companions for Independence http://www.cci.org. There are many other service dog organizations across the nation that may help you as well. In Southern California a couple other organizations we’ve talked to are Canine Support Teams and Little Angels Service Dogs. Good luck with your search for a service dog!

Take care,
Colby

my husband trained german shepherd dogs in u.s.a.f. john said the dogs are excellent dogs. and he even trained one for him and called him sarge. he flew sarge back to his home on a cargo plane.

@Irene, I would recommend having a local dog trainer come to your house to evaluate your puppy. Take a look at this article: http://sybilleyates.hubpages.com/hub/How-do-you-deal-with-a-food-agressive-dog_. There are some suggestions that might help you with your 10 month old puppy. I hope that helps. Good luck with you pup!

@Susi the best thing to do would be to get a local dog trainer to do an in home evaluation with you and your dog. We’ve also had some issues with our dogs digging up the garden in the past. What we’ve come to realize is this generally happens when we do not exercise our dogs enough. One way we’ve kept our dogs from jumping on people is to stand on their leash, have everyone ignore the dog. Once they calm down and sit we give them attention and praise.

Do you have more details about this year’s October 1, 2011 – OCTA Bus Training and Knott’s Berry Farm. I want to be sure to share it with our group in the South Bay. Can you please email any information you might have such as cost, location, times, etc.

Thank you so much,
Yvette Sheehan
