I would recommend picking up toys before running your Roomba especially if they have small parts that can get stuck in the Roomba. Good luck with your Roomba!

I will only be using it in one room which is hard to vacuum due to the high pile. It will be tested because I have a corgi, and they shed a lot. My question is, do I have to pick up her toys before I run it?

They almost feel like sci-fi technology today. The Roomba is inching its way towards perfection at this point.

It was a great read! I’ve personally curated some great vacuums And being frank I’ve been an active user of roomba since past 1.5 years. It’s strange that your experience was not good. Yeah, in my case it is working perfectly and with a complete charm of perfect clean home.

Also, their new model roomba 980 is giving pretty decent experience to my close friend who owns two pets one retriver and one GSD.

You should try that out.

I’m glad it’s still working for you and your cat. I love the videos of the cats and puppies riding the Roomba.

This is an older blog post so I wouldn’t be surprised if Roomba made some improvements on their model. Honestly, it could just be that they are not built to handle a multi-dog or heavy shedding dog household.

Thanks! You’re probably right that the dirt bin needs to be emptied more frequently. The problem is we emptied the bin daily and still had issues which makes me think it’s not really built to handle a multi-dog household. Emptying the bin more than once a day what be impractical for me.

It’s great reading your article.
I completely agree with your cons except one the first one. You said not durable. I don’t think so, Roomba vacuums are of with high build quality.
I think the major problem is the Roomba’s dirt bin size. Need to be emptied more frequently.
Thanks again.

I’ve studied quite a bunch of vacuums on how they perform with pet hair and other pet-related messes. Too bad you had a lousy experience with your Roomba. I’ve heard the newer models are more durable than the old ones, and they manage the stubborn pet hair even on more challenging surfaces. I definitely welcome advances in the robotic vacuum field myself, and I hope to be testing one at home very soon. 🙂
