We appreciate and lots of Golden Thanks for considering us to be BEAR’s paw parents. It’s been heart felt emotional journey since SUGAR and our foster puppy passed away. We have tears of joy having BEAR. It’s been three months and he is showing great improvements in his confidence. We will definitely give BEAR a purpose associated with serving others. In reply to Irene. Speaking of GDA, just yesterday I was asked if I could raise a German Shepherd puppy. Unfortunately, the pickup date is next Friday and I'm not ready to make a decision that quickly, but you never know I could have a short term puppy sitting assignment in the near future :)

I wrote a blog posts many moons ago about what color dog you should get? https://puppyintraining.com/what-color-dog-should-i-get/ Besides personal preference two big things jumped out at me after owning both a black Lab and a yellow Lab:

1. Try to match the color of your dog with the color that matches your home and interior of your car. I had a 2 black dogs first. I never noticed their fur my car because I had a black interior. However, when I got my first yellow Lab I saw fur everywhere.
2. It was much more difficult taking pictures of my black Labs vs the yellow Labs.

In reply to Colby. Golden/Lab would be cool! My fav color lab would be yellow, but the yellows that are super white kind of like an English cream. Although I've never had a chocolate lab before. I like the black labs, but they don't photograph well.

In reply to Lindsay. Yep, Bear has become quite the traveler with Rosalyn. They visited my alma mater this past weekend in Tucson. I love being able to watch his adventures on social media and the Golden Woofs blog.

In reply to M. K. Clinton. We love our Labs and Goldens and of course Linus, our Australian Shepherd mix. Raising guide and service dog puppies has been life changing not just for the people who receive the dogs, but for puppy raisers as well. It's incredible to see how these dogs help their new partners regain their independence. After over 10 years I guess that's why I continue to raise and train service dogs.

We love Guide Dogs of America! Apache was our last GDA puppy, but we’ve puppy sat countless puppies since then. A couple weeks ago we had 13 week old GDA puppy in training, Eko for 3 weeks and a few weeks before that we had 9 week old puppy in training, Dingo for 2 weeks.

It’s definitely something we’re still considering. Have you raised GDA puppies?
