I like the IIADP website and they have a page that covers some of the tasks you can teach your dog. Here’s a link: https://www.iaadp.org/psd_tasks.html. The site is dated, but has good information. If you’re looking for help with training you might want to check out the Assistance Dogs International website at https://www.assistancedogsinternational.org. If you’re looking to self train I don’t know of any resources that specifically cover how to train certain tasks, but you might try first looking at the tasks on the IAADP website then doing a deeper search on that specific task and how to teach your dog. We’re planning on adding “how to” tutorials that will cover service dog task training so hopefully you’ll see that on our site in the near future. Good luck with your training!

We have a 12 week old and housebreaking has been difficult because we spend a lot of time as a family in our backyard. When we are indoors she seems to”forget” we’re inside and just pees wherever she is. She’s crate trained, but we use the crate at night and when we have to leave her alone (2-3 hours at the most right now).

little girl when meeting other dogs and people. I’ve been working on
leash training but it has been a challenge. It is amazing how strong this
little dog is when she is trying to get to another dog. I wonder if I will ever be able to have her walk nicely and ignore dogs and people.

Your puppy realized that the house is not a place to pee, so she “retreats” to a place that’s familiar. Try closing the door to the crate throughout the day, and encourage outdoor visits more often. She’ll get the idea that going outside is much more favorable. Reward her for the outside poop/pee.

Yeah, I recommend taking her to the vet to get her checked out. she could be sick or something.

Congratulations on your new puppy. Here’s a post on potty training your puppy: https://puppyintraining.com/how-to-potty-train-a-puppy/

It sounds like your doing everything right. One thing to remember is every puppy is different. We’ve had some pretty much perfect with their potty training by about 10 weeks old while others have taken up to 6 months before we truly trusted them in the house. Most puppies we’ve trained start geting pretty solid with potty training at around 16 weeks old. That being said 11 weeks is still pretty young for most puppies. Be patient, persistent, and consistent and I’m sure you’re puppy will figure it out.

We have an 11 week old female springer spaniel. We are having a very difficult time potty training. She gives absolute no indication she has to pee. We bring her out regularly and she pees when outside sometimes 2-3x! lots of praise is given and she will come back in the house and 15 minutes later will pee in the house. Will just stops and squats. No sniffing, circles or anything. I am getting so frustrated. We keep her on a leash attached to us and she is supervised at all times. I do let her off leash but supervised when she is playing with our 4 year old brittany spaniel. But we bring her out asap when playtime is over. We have 2 other dogs and they weren’t this challenging. What else can i do? I’m at my wits end.
