@Pamela there are some general guidelines in our Guide Dog puppy manual. The rule of thumb is at least 6 months old for most of our outings like the OCTA bus training, the Metrolink train ride, walk through Downtown Disney, etc.

However some puppies are still not ready at 6 months to participate in these activities. Anytime I go on an outing I’m always prepared to go home if it’s to strenuous for my puppy.

If I’m doing anything new I keep a close eye on my puppies behavior to make sure he’s having a good experience.

You know your own puppy better than anyone else. If you’re out participating in an activity and you notice your puppy is stressing out then it’s probably a good time to leave.

I still plan on going…if anyone can’t go, but would like me to bring their GDA puppy (6 months or older) then let me know.
