All of the ones I’ve groomed are the sweetest dogs. Saint Bernards are very sweet too. They both drool too much for me personally but they hold a special place in my heart. A Leonberger is on my list of breeds to own someday. The Leonberger I met was so sweet and so gorgeous. Since I used to be a groomer I like their long hair so I can keep doing the usual haircut. Shiloh dogs are also on my list and they’re also big dogs. I’ve never met a Shiloh yet though. The most vital points for a long life span for a huge dog is to not over exercise them as puppies, walk them on soft surfaces and off stairs when they’re growing up for it interferes with joint development. Have them on food made for big dogs for proper development. Also feed them carefully to prevent them from being overweight. Buy from a responsible breeder for a responsible breeder works to breed out any health issues. They should have health papers from a vet to show you all the health tests they do to screen them so only the healthiest breed. The last and easily forgettable but vital part is keeping their nails from over growing. When nails get too long the dog is walking in high heels. It alters their joint alignment and if severely neglected the nails will grow into the pads. Some dogs have fast growing nails while others have slower growing nails.
