Français : réalisée pour un mur de l'Albergo de la Scuola della Carita. (La toile entourait deux portes, c'est ce qui explique les découpages du bas). Les locaux de la Scuola di Santa Maria della Carita sont aujourd'hui intégrés dans le bâtiment de l'Accademia. Au premier plan, la vieille femme assise représente l'ancienne religion qui va être supplantée par celle que va engendrer la jeune Marie.
